Mysterious Connections
Perhaps you have had a moment where you knew the phone was about to ring and who would be on the line - and it did and they were! Or perhaps you have had a sick feeling about something and sure enough, you hunch was right. Or maybe you had a very real dream about someone and it turns out they had a dream about you, too. And then there may have been the time when you ran into the right person at the right moment for something important to fall right into place without any effort on your part.
Synchronicity
What many might call coincidences, I would like to call synchronicities. A Synchronicity is defined as “a meaningful coincidence that occurs as a result of the combination of internal and external events, which cannot be explained via the cause-and-effect relationship.”
I was thrilled to learn about synchronicity (thank you, Katie L.). Before hearing that term, the only word I had available was “coincidence” - as in, “It was quite a coincidence that just as we were looking for a cat, a friend mentioned she knew of four cats needing to be re-homed.” I now prefer to think of that fortuitous moment and a sort of synchronicity where what I needed in the moment found me simply because it was what was required.
Several years ago our son Adam had blood tests and we determined he was borderline anemic. He needed an iron supplement. His initial response to the suggestion of taking supplements was negative because the previous time this had happened he got migraines from taking large doses of iron. So we discussed that maybe if there were a liquid form it would be gentler to take. Literally a few days later I was at a party with Dana and Teresa, who is a nurse. Dana asked Teresa, ‘Do you know anyone who can use prescription liquid iron? I have some to give away before we move to New York.’” Synchronicity!
And then there is the story of our current house synchronously finding us. My husband and I had decided we were ready to buy a condo as our summer home when we would return to Wisconsin from Hong Kong with our family. We just happened to mention this to a friend who just happened to have a friend just beginning to think about selling her home before relocating. In a matter of days we had viewed the house and made an offer which she accepted. No realtor needed; no hassle. And the perfect home for our needs.
Do any synchronous moments come to mind for you? Keep alert! And don’t dismiss these experiences. You might even wish to write down these synchronicities, as I have done. Each time it is breathtaking, a beautiful window into the hidden order of the Universe.
Quantum Entanglement
Synchronicities began to become much more believable on an intellectual level when I learned about quantum entanglement.
According to Wikipedia, “Quantum entanglement is the physical phenomenon that occurs when a group of particles are generated, interact, or share spatial proximity in a way such that the quantum state of each particle of the group cannot be described independently of the state of the others, including when the particles are separated by a large distance.” Or, as quantum physicist Nassim Haramein might say, “If I tickle a photon over here, the entangled photon will laugh.” Einstein called this idea “spooky action at a distance” and didn’t want to believe it could be real (“Entanglement”).
Could everything be entangled with everything else? Just sit with the magnitude of that for a moment.
Quantum Entanglement suggests that at the sub-atomic level particles that have been in union prior to their separation are, in some way, still very much connected. If you subscribe to the big bang theory that everything - and I mean everything - was once united in one very heavy but very tiny mass and then exploded, well, then you won’t have trouble realizing that all the bits that make us up were actually connected way back when. Could everything be entangled with everything else? Just sit with the magnitude of that for a moment.
Essentially, through the study of quantum physics and specifically quantum entanglement, we are beginning to realize how very connected we all are; as Haramein says, “the whole thing may be entangled” (“Entanglement”).
Whether or not you study or have studied quantum entanglement probably doesn’t matter. Because the experiences that each of us have which demonstrate our entanglement creates proof all its own.
I know I have mentioned belonging to a Power of 8 group in previous articles. (See Lynn McTaggart’s work for much more detail and results of her research.) One of the foundational aspects of Power of 8 groups is that the group holds an intention for someone in the group. This is quite similar to focused, meditative prayer. Once the intendee has stated their intention, the other seven members hold that vision for them for some time. There is always a time for debriefing afterward. We have been constantly amazed at how many times our interconnectedness to one another and “the field” becomes evident (AKA entanglement). It might be as simple as several members envisioning similar imagery: a white bird, a dove, a bird in flight. Or it might be visceral, such as the intendee feeling the warmth of hugs while others just happened to be simultaneously thinking about hugging that person. Or it might be as mind-blowing as a member hearing and seeing the exact image of the intendee’s deceased loved one without ever having met him. Time after time we are amazed at the power of our group of 8. Not to mention, our intentions somehow seem to move mountains!
Reasons for Hope
Synchronicities and entanglement bring me hope. After all, if we are all connected in these amazing and mysterious ways, then all is NOT chaos. Perhaps there is some sort of higher consciousness unfolding events in a beautiful way - if only we would notice it. We can certainly begin noticing it in our own lives. As I live my life in acceptance of such entanglement with the field / Divine Matrix, I find myself more and more trusting of the world, the Universe, and others. I trust that what I need will find me. I trust that who I need will find me. I trust that my deep, mysterious connections with others are far more than coincidences. I relax much more and worry much less. And life is far happier and joyous.

Fascinating, Brenda. I have Breitman's "Connecting with Coincidence" on my stack of "to read" books. I'll be sure to read it before I see you in July.
Godwinks. . .It was Ann Hollenbach that shared Rushnell's books with me. Have you read his work on coincidences?
