Plugged In
Throughout this series From Fog to Flow we have put out attention on the practices of intentions, claims, meditations, and visualizations to move from the fog of misalignment to the flow of alignment with Christ Consciousness. This is not passive; it takes choice and action to experience flow. In the previous article, “Seeing through the Eyes of the Christ” we focused on aligning to the frequency of Love. Through these practices what we have done is strengthen your inward power for outward results. Did you know that the light that is shining within you also emanates outward from you? You become “A Lighthouse” when you are plugged into the Christ Consciousness.
A lighthouse
Imagine a lighthouse. It stands on a hill with a beacon blinking and beaming for mariner’s to either find their way safely through a dangerous passage or to harbor. The lighthouse itself must be powered with fuel or electricity to shine in the darkness or fog. Its light must be powered to be reflected and magnified outward toward the sea. Situated on a solid, high place, it offers safety and refuge to those on the sea through its broadcast of the light.
You likely already know who the human lighthouses are or have been in your life. Take a moment to bring to mind someone who you simply felt joyful being with. You felt safe or loved or seen. Was it that second grade teacher who lit up every time you walked in the door and made sure you were bundled up for recess? Or a favorite aunt who always seemed to know when something was troubling you and took the time to inquire. Or was it a partner, parent, neighbor, grandparent, or friend who you only needed to be around in order to feel good again? Can you also see how your lighthouse was plugged into some Divine Source? The energy from that divinity shone through them and went straight to you, beyond any masks or shields you might otherwise have held onto.
Miss Rudy, my fifth grade teacher, was an early lighthouse for me. She exuded joy. She loved her students and helped us to laugh and inquire and to get along. I always looked forward to being in her presence and going to school every day. There were many lighthouses that followed.
Perhaps one of the brightest lighthouses for me in more recent years is Alice Y. She is the founder of Alive Wellness in Hong Kong. I initially saw Alice for acupuncture and physiotherapy but soon discovered she was one of my spiritual guides as I navigated a dark passage. Simply being in her space brought peace and relaxation to an otherwise hectic and obstacle-ridden time. Alice’s connection to Divine Energy was evident every moment I was with her. Each session with Alice resulted in deep insights about myself and my life’s journey. I have such gratitude for the light she shines for others to find their way.
You as a lighthouse
As you move from fog to flow, and as you see through the eyes of The Christ, you, too, begin to glow in your energy and high vibration. No, this isn’t an ego thing at all. In fact, it is quite humbling. To be a lighthouse is to shine brightly, signaling the way while maintaining humility. It is through the alignment of the personality self with the higher self and Christ Consciousness that such a wondrous thing can be. What a gift!
In recent months I have discovered that in my moments of alignment to Christ Consciousness, I am completely present for others, listening or sharing or just being, I have a sense of deep calm and joy from within. I also trust and realize that what I say is something shining through me more than simply ideas my own mind is generating. This is a beautiful state of flow.
Our world needs all the helpful light it can get - all the love and grace we are capable of for one another. And if not us, then who? The life of Jesus demonstrated the way of transformation. He declared, “Follow me” not “worship me.” And he radically loved the forgotten and discarded as much as he did his followers and family. Jesus was plugged into and aligned with God. He was a humble lighthouse, signaling the way to others to their own union with God. So was Alice. So too can you be when you are completely and humbly in alignment.
“But there’s so much crud inside of me,” you may say. “There’s so much darkness or fog still to work through.” Yes, indeed. We all have crud, darkness and fog. Remember, this is a dynamic process through which we are ever evolving and learning and growing. To be a lighthouse is to shine brightly for those at sea in need of a beacon even while you have cracks and flaws in your own brickwork. (Play the visualization at the end.)
To shine outward is to be a beacon for others not because you ARE the light but because you are connected to the True Source of Light. Through the process of aligning to the Light, you are aligning to Love and in allowance of the Grace of Love. Love flows through you and becomes you and emanates from you and comes back to you, again. (Imagine the sign for infinity - a sideways figure 8.)
Even if you only recognize this for a single moment, that is enough to know that it is possible and it is true. You only need to remember the feelings of a genuine, long hug to know what I mean. You both benefited from that hug, right?
What a blessing and a joy it is to have lighthouses show us the way. And what a gift it is to become a lighthouse for others. This is how a world is made new, by lighting the way for one another, lifting each other up not so much through our own personality-driven effort but through our very presence and being. I invite you to continue your practices that bring you peace and joy and alignment to Love itself. Do the work. Be in the presence of the Light. Be a Lighthouse.

Excellent, Brenda! The line where you state Jesus wanted us to "follow" him and not "worship" him resonates with my own reflections. He was setting the example for us!
